SYNOPSIS:
Father Jonathan Keene - a cold, impatient
Catholic priest arrives in a tiny fishing village the week
before Christmas to do what he does best: shut down a dying
parish. But things take an unexpected turn as he becomes
entangled in the various lives of the village's eccentric
characters, including their beautiful librarian, the
childlike priest he is displacing, and the magical
experience of Mrs. Worthington's legendary Christmas Party,
where everyone is welcome and anything is possible.
REVIEW: The film “Noelle” gave David Wall the award
of best director at the 2006 Fort Lauderdale Film Festival.
This director, writer and producer got the inspiration after
living in Cape Cod and attending an annual Christmas party
that brought people from different socio economic status
together. Therefore, the title of this film was “Ms.
Worthington’s Party” at the beginning, however when
Gener8xion Entertainment acquired the film, the name was
changed to “Noelle” and released on December 7, 2007.
Noelle, is the female name for Christmas in French. It is a
simple word yet so meaningful, and in those same terms
represents the topic of this film, simple yet substantial.
Father Jonathan Keene (David Wall) is a catholic priest and
also a “hit man” who sets out to close churches. Yet a ghost
from the past (guilt) continues to hunt him, which leads him
to hide behind a shield of coldness toward others. Along the
way he meets the eccentric members of this fishing village
including Marjorie Worthington (Kerry Wall) and Father
Simeon Joyce (Sean Patrick Brennan), who help him break free
from his past and find redemption.
This endearing love story is not only complemented by
amusing lines but also on the ability to transport audiences
to a snowy Cape Cod at Christmas time. While other
franchises have set their Christmas stories around the wild
and commercial New York during this season, this beautiful
story in enhanced by it setting, a peaceful and quiet Cape
Cod. In the film we see places like the Beaches of Dennis
Fort, East Dennis Library, Cape Cod Hospital, and the
Sandwich Board Walk. What a treat!
