BLU-RAY
REVIEW: PINOCCHIO
(Platinum Edition)

03/09/09

Pinocchio, one of Disney's
most anticipated classic films arrives in blu-ray this March
10, 2009. Celebrating the 70th anniversary of this beloved
fairy tale, the 2 disc blu-ray platinum edition marks the
second title release by Disney in their re-mastered effort
to bring all of their animated gems to the High Definition
format. Similar to previous Disney's classic releases, the
blu-ray will be available for a limited time only in a two
disc set, digital restore and loaded with bonus features.
The timeless classic that
inspired millions to believe in their dreams, when though a
state-of-the-art digital restoration that is as perfect as
it can be. The richly detailed animation it is just amazing
in this release. Visually speaking this is by far the best
digital restoration performed by Disney Animation
Studios. After watching this classic in high definition, it
is just hard to believe that this masterpiece was released
70 years ago.
Pinocchio 70th Anniversary is
presented in a full screen format 1.33:1. For me it was
surprising to see that the studio did not expanded the
picture to a widescreen format, nevertheless it does take
anything away from the quality of the picture. Even with the
full screen format, I was stunned by this perfectly done
restoration.
Not just the picture was
restored in this platinum edition, also the sound was
upgraded with an all new 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio
(48kHz/24bit) that completes the delightful experience
of this memorable classic, however I have to mention that
the sound restoration is not as perfect as the pictures.
Nevertheless it is an upgraded.
Disney Home
Entertainment has done it again with this platinum edition,
making it a must see and own before it goes back to the
Disney's vault. The beautiful animation and the
unforgettable award-winning music (“When You Wish Upon A
Star”) will continue to deliver the Disney magic for
generations to come.
Pinocchio 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition two disc blu-ray
set presentation is very similar to the first blu-ray
release of "Sleeping Beauty. Loaded with new bonuses and
features that will keep the whole family fully entertained
by providing amazing details on how this wonderful film was
made
This new digitally restored video comes with many surprises
