REVIEW: BODY OF LIES

02/15/09

SYNOPSIS: The CIA’s
hunt is on for the mastermind of a wave of terrorist
attacks. Roger Ferris is the agency’s man on the ground,
moving from place to place, scrambling to stay ahead of
ever-shifting events. An eye in the sky – a satellite link –
watches Ferris. At the other end of that real-time link is
the CIA’s Ed Hoffman, strategizing events from thousands of
miles away. And as Ferris nears the target, he discovers
trust can be just as dangerous as it is necessary for
survival.
REVIEW: Over the past years we have seen a vast array
of films in which the main story is link directly or
indirectly to the war in Iraq. With many of these films
touching sensitive and controversial issues, making them
difficult to be well accepted by the greater part of the
audience. The latest film in this array is "Body of Lies".
An interesting spy film that manage to develop some thrills,
but at the same time manage to develop enough controversy,
to make the movie hard to digest for many. The film is based
on the novel of the same name by Davis Ignatius and will be
released on DVD and Blu-ray by Warner Home Entertainment on
February 17th 2009.
For the most part the film
is able to build a strong connection between it's main
character and the audience, all this thanks to the top notch
performance by Leonardo Dicaprio.
The film in this edition is
presented in a widescreen format, with an aspect ratio
(2.35:1). The picture is complemented with a 5.1 Dolby
Digital audio in English Spanish and French. The surprise in
this DVD version is the absents of extras. If you want to
get and inside look at the making of the film you should go
for the Blu-ray version, which includes three behind the
scenes features, as well as alternate and deleted scenes. It
also includes a digital copy.
