REVIEW: MAD MEN
Season Two
07/04/09

The second season of “Mad
Men,” the groundbreaking series from AMC that critics are
calling one of “TV’s best-ever dramas” (Boston Globe), is
now available on DVD and Blu-ray Disc from Lionsgate. From
Matthew Weiner, the EmmyÒ award-winning executive producer
and writer of “The Sopranos,” “Mad Men” is the
ground-breaking series about the glamorous and ego-driven
“Golden Age” of advertising, where everyone is selling
something and nothing is ever what it seems. In its second
season, “Mad Men” continues to blur the lines between truth
and lies, perception and reality. The world of Mad Men is
moving in a new direction -- can Sterling Cooper keep up?
Meanwhile, the private life of Don Draper becomes
complicated in a new way. What is the cost of his secret
identity?
Since its debut in the summer of 2007, “Mad Men” has
garnered enormous critical acclaim and has become the
critics' darling and a pop culture phenomenon. Winner of 3
Golden Globes and 6 Emmy’s, The Wall Street Journal praised
it as, “one of the best-written, all-around sparkling works
to come along.” TV Guide proclaimed it, “sleek, sexy,
smartly cynical…9 out of 10” and Newsweek hailed, “Mad Men
is…must see TV.”
Timed to coincide with the show’s third season premiere on
AMC and a soundtrack release this summer, MAD MEN: SEASON
TWO contains all 13 episodes of the second season and is
loaded with special features including extensive
commentaries and innovative featurettes. The featurettes
reveal a look at the rise of women in the work place, the
influence of 1960’s fashion, and the historical events that
defined the era. Arriving on July 14, 2009, the MAD MEN:
SEASON TWO DVD will be packaged in a limited edition sleek
